Albuquerque Saving water - Saving the environment

Woman spraying waterI was reading a great post that Sarah Peterson of SavePhoenix.org wrote about water conservation. Her article focuses on changes you can make in the bathroom that can have a huge impact on your water usage. Some of these changes are inexpensive, such as changing to low-flow shower heads. Even luxury bathrooms can be eco-friendly with tips for steam showers and infrared saunas.

In Albuquerque, if you switch to a low-flow or high-efficiency toilet, you may qualify for a rebate of $150-$200. For more information, visit Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA).  Other services from ABCWUA include free water audits as well as rebates on other water usage items.

Green Tip: With the cooler temperatures in September water your lawn just twice a week.

Environmentally Friendly Bathroom Design

Bathroom showers, toilets, and sinks account for approximately 75% of the water used in each American home. It is important for all of us to do more to save water, both to protect our world’s natural resources and to lower the economic impact of wasteful water usage. Click to continue

Ashley, I see many flappers that leak water and waste gallons and gallons! It is important to maintain them properly once the water saving feature is installed. A great post, thanks for the water saving tips.

Joanne - Drippy faucets and running toilets are such huge water wasters and such easy fixes.

Water conservation is so important. Thank you for sharing a couple of the ways this can be done just in the bathroom. It’s fantastic to know there is a REBATE for homeowners willing to change out their toilets!

Susie - The rebate is nice. If a homeowner is hesitating that hopefully would sway them to switching out the toilets.

Ashley - it is amazing how many toilets I see leaking and it does not just waster water here but it takes electricty, and often times is dumping that water int a drainfield which can lead to very expensive issues.

    Ashley,

Most folks in this part of the country normally take water for granted. We are stuck in a severe drought this year and it has everyone thinking about how to save water. Your tips not just for the desert - they could be used anywhere. Thanks for linking to the great article.
