Currently in Albuquerque, there are 15 houses for sale that are eco-friendly. Prices range from $362,000 to $1,400,000–something for all budgets. For details on green homes, contact me today and…

Albuquerque has some great neighborhoods that are very walkable, including UNM, Nob Hill, Old Town, and Downtown. You can get your own Neighborhood Walking Tour Guide and start walking! If you work in one of these areas, it is easy to find a home that would allow you to walk to work.
Bike
Albuquerque was named one of the “The 21 Best Cities for Cycling” in America by Bicycling Magazine in 2006. The city buses have bike racks so if biking is too far, you can combine the two and still reduce your impact. Albuquerque has some great biking trails for the outdoor enthisuast. Check out the Bike Map of Albuquerque.
Bus
ABQ Ride operates 148 buses and can even connect you to Rio Rancho via bus #151. Check out the schedule online and plan your route.
If you are downtown, you can hop on the D-ride for free! The buses loop around downtown and are hard to miss with a bright graphic wrap. Some of the spots you can hit are: Convention Center, City Hall, and the Main Library. Check it out here.
If you are a UNM student, you can ride the buses for free. Just make sure you get your Lobo Ride Pass sticker first! Lobo Ride Pass information.
The city also allows free parking downtown at any meter if you own a hybrid car and obtain a permit.
Let’s not forgot the old carpool! I remember my mother carpooling in the 70’s. Several sites have updated this with online computer matching, including carpoolconnect.com and erideshare.com.
Streetcars
None yet, but they are in development with plans for Fall of 2009. Read more on the cities website.
I was reading a great post that Sarah Peterson of SavePhoenix.org wrote about water conservation. Her article focuses on changes you can make in the bathroom that can have a huge impact on your water usage. Some of these changes are inexpensive, such as changing to low-flow shower heads. Even luxury bathrooms can be eco-friendly with tips for steam showers and infrared saunas.
In Albuquerque, if you switch to a low-flow or high-efficiency toilet, you may qualify for a rebate of $150-$200. For more information, visit Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA). Other services from ABCWUA include free water audits as well as rebates on other water usage items.
Green Tip: With the cooler temperatures in September water your lawn just twice a week.
Bathroom showers, toilets, and sinks account for approximately 75% of the water used in each American home. It is important for all of us to do more to save water, both to protect our world’s natural resources and to lower the economic impact of wasteful water usage. Click to continue
